Your starting point

Where Are You in Your Skating?

You don’t need to know your team yet. Start with the path that sounds like you.

First steps

I’m new to skating.

Shooting Stars Academy gives beginners a place to learn skating skills and discover the fun of being on a team.

  • Ages ten and under
  • No USFS test level needed
  • Year-round “Skate With Us” sessions

Learn to Skate USA enrollment is listed in the Academy requirements below. Older beginner? Ask us about possible next steps.

Your next challenge

I already skate.

Explore Hayden teams from local competition to the international stage. Placement considers your age, test level and whole tryout.

  • Placement begins in February and March
  • Placement sessions are scheduled in March
  • Some teams may have openings outside spring placement

Spring placement

Take It One Step at a Time.

Start by getting in touch. Our Skate With Us team can share placement information, open spots and next steps.

  1. Tell us about the skater.

Share their age, skating experience and questions through the inquiry form. It’s fine to choose “Not sure yet” for a team.

    Start an inquiry

  2. Explore the right level.

Review each team’s age and skating requirements. Meeting the minimums does not guarantee placement; the whole tryout is considered.

    Compare requirements

  3. Plan for placement.

Sessions are scheduled in March. Teams tend to fill during spring placement, so get in touch early about dates and availability.

“What makes Hayden Synchro truly special is the incredible sense of community and support at every level, from team picnics and bonding events to the support and cheering from the entire club at competitions. (My skater) has always felt encouraged, connected, and inspired. With synchronized skating now on the path to becoming an Olympic sport, there has never been a more exciting time to be part of this community.”

USFS’s published age and test criteria for the Junior and Senior levels currently apply to Lexettes and Haydenettes as a whole; USFS has not yet issued separate Synchro9-specific age/test criteria distinct from the traditional 16-skater format, so the same minimums apply to both the 9- and 16-skater squads.
